Abstract

Abstract Article deals with composites resulting from a linguistic mixes of Kartvelian and Abkhazian languages, which produce, after phonetic adaptations, new sets of terms in respective languages. Precondition for forming of hybrid composites is a necessity to express genders: ანაძძეჲ "Foster-mother, nurse; Geo. Dzidza" – აბაძძეჲ "Foster-father"; ა-ჟ°ბატ "Buffalo heifer" – ა-ც°ბატ "Buffalo calf"; ა-ჟ°კამბაშ "Buffalo cow" – აც°კამბაშ "Buffalo bull"... In some cases Abkhazian language constructs hibrid composites for dog breeds: ა-მაწ°არლა “hound”; ა-ლამურა “Shepherd”... Also we consider here religious/ritual terms (ანც°არჷმჷზჷზ "Divine retribution", ჯაჰაშქარნჷხა / ჯახაშქარნჷხა "Abkhazian pagan ritual place", ა- ბერთჷფ / ა-ბაირთჷფ "მონასტერი"...), names of months (ხ˜აჩხ°ამამზა "January", ხ°აჟ°ჷკჷნ-მზა "February", მარჷშჷმზა "August, St. Mary’s month"...), buildings (ა-განჳნჷ "Type of house", ა-ჯარგ°ალჳნჷ "hut", აჲსჷრჳნჷ "house with haulm roof"...), culinary terms (ა-ცხარანჯ "Honeycomb", ახარწ°ჷსჷძბალ "Yogurt food", ა-ჩეჲ-ჯჷკა "food, bread and salt"...). There are relatively less (though existing) number of hibrids in Kartvelian languages, mostly met at Samurdzakhano toponims: ჯოღორძაგა, დიდაზმახი, ჭუბურაძმახი, ახრაშ წყურგილი, წყარამაჰაფუ...
